Throughout his career, he has held numerous leading positions in academia and economic policy: He served as rector of WU, chairman of the Austrian Conference of Universities, and headed the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) from 2016 to 2021. Since 2021, he has served as President of the Fiscal Council, and since 2022, he has also served as Chairman of the Austrian Productivity Council. With his many years of experience, Christoph Badelt is one of the most prominent voices on issues of Austrian economic, fiscal, and social policy.
