Ulrike Herrmann is one of Germany’s most distinguished business journalists. For many years, she has been analyzing political and economic events as a business correspondent for the “taz” – pointed, fact-rich and opinionated. Trained as a bank clerk, she studied history and philosophy, worked at the Körber Foundation and was press spokeswoman for Hamburg’s Senator for Equal Opportunities, Krista Sager. Her origins in Hamburg’s middle class shape her clear view of social justice and economic power structures. Herrmann is known for her ability to make economic contexts understandable – for example in her highly acclaimed books on growth criticism and climate policy. She has received numerous awards for her work; the “FAZ” newspaper called her a “voice of economic reason from the left”.
