Sigmar Gabriel is former Federal Foreign Minister, Chairman of Atlantik-Brücke and a convinced European.

He has been politically active since his youth and has been a member of the SPD since 1977. He was Minister President of Lower Saxony from 1999 to 2003 and a member of the German Bundestag for 14 years from 2005.

As a member of the Federal Government, he was Federal Minister for the Environment (2005-2009), Federal Minister for Economic Affairs (2013-2017) and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs (2017-2018). He was Vice-Chancellor from 2013 to 2018 and also Chairman of the SPD from 2009 to 2017.

Sigmar Gabriel is one of the most influential German politicians of recent decades, achieving top ratings in the electorate within just a few months in the office of Federal Foreign Minister. Even after the end of his political career, he is still passionate, direct and competent when it comes to Europe’s role in an uncomfortable world – and does not shy away from clear words.
