Markus Lanz is one of Germany’s best-known television personalities. Since 2009, he has been shaping social discourse with his talk show of the same name on ZDF and has earned a reputation as an astute observer and attentive interlocutor.
Lanz was born in Bruneck in South Tyrol in 1969. After working for the Italian army and the local radio station in his home town, he came to Germany at the age of 21. After a traineeship at Radio Hamburg, he worked as a presenter at RTL before moving to ZDF in 2008. In addition to his talk show, he also hosted the cooking show “Lanz kocht” and the ZDF cult show “Wetten, dass…?”.
Together with Richard David Precht, he hosts the weekly podcast “Lanz & Precht” and his documentaries on political, social and cultural topics show him to be an attentive reporter and open-minded observer.
