Lars Peter Feld

Lars P. Feld is one of the most influential economists in Germany. He was a member of the German Council of Economic Experts for over a decade, most recently as its chairman, and provided important impetus for economic and financial policy. His expertise includes economic policy, finance, new political economy and the economic analysis of law.
He studied economics at Saarland University and completed his doctorate and habilitation at the University of St. Gallen. After holding professorships in Marburg and Heidelberg, he was appointed to the Chair of Economic Policy and Regulatory Economics at the University of Freiburg in 2010, where he heads the Walter Eucken Institute.

Feld is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Federal Ministry of Finance and has advised on economic policy issues for many years. From 2022 to 2024, he was the personal representative of Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner for macroeconomic development.
He is also a visiting professor at ZEW Mannheim, a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and winner of the Gustav Stolper Prize (2021) and the Friedrich List Medal (2023).
