Reform thinking and location policy: Franz Schellhorn at re.comm 25

We welcome Franz Schellhorn, one of Austria’s most prominent economic policy experts, to re.comm 25. Since February 2013, he has headed the Vienna-based think tank Agenda Austria, which deals with relevant economic policy issues. Schellhorn studied commercial sciences at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and before that completed a banking apprenticeship at Creditanstalt in Vienna and Salzburg. However, instead of returning to the financial sector, he embarked on a career in journalism: for 15 years, he shaped the daily newspaper Die Presse, where he was head of the business department from 2004 and became a member of the editorial board in 2011. At the same time, he completed his doctorate in 2004. As a think tank director, Schellhorn combines journalistic experience with analytical acuity. At re.comm 25, he will outline the reforms needed to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and secure long-term prosperity. You can look forward to clearly formulated ideas, well-founded analyses and a lively dialog on the economic policy challenges of our time. Be there when Ulrike Herrmann and Franz Schellhorn present their perspectives on the future of our economic system – exclusively at re.comm 25 in Kitzbühel.

Criticism of growth and social justice: Ulrike Herrmann at re.comm 25

We are delighted to welcome Ulrike Herrmann, one of Germany’s most distinguished business journalists, to re.comm 25. For many years, Herrmann has been analyzing political and economic events as a business correspondent for the taz – pointed, fact-rich and opinionated. She has had a varied career: a trained bank clerk, she studied history and philosophy, worked at the Körber Foundation and acted as press spokesperson for Hamburg’s Senator for Equal Opportunities, Krista Sager. Influenced by her middle-class background in Hamburg, she takes a critical view of social justice and economic power structures. Herrmann is known for presenting complex economic contexts in an understandable way – including in her highly acclaimed books on growth criticism and climate policy. She has received numerous awards for her work; the FAZ newspaper praised her as the “voice of economic reason from the left”. On stage at re.comm 25, Ulrike Herrmann will focus on the big questions of our economic system: How much growth does our society need – or can it tolerate? What role does social justice play in times of global upheaval? Take this opportunity to experience one of the most incisive voices in German-language business journalism live.
