Hiroshi Ishiguro is the most prominent researcher on androids in Japan and is regarded as the “pop star of Japanese robotics research”. He has built an android in his own image, which sometimes doubles him in lectures. He is the director of the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at the Department of Adaptive Machine Systems at Osaka University, which is one of the world’s leading research institutions for robots. Ishiguro is regarded as one of the most radical representatives of a future society in which humans and androids are to coexist.
