Marco Gercke is one of the world’s leading experts in the field of cybersecurity and cybercrime. He is the founder and director of the Cybercrime Research Institute, an independent research institute based in Cologne, as well as a researcher and lecturer in media criminal law at the University of Cologne.

Marco Gercke advises governments, organizations and companies worldwide on strategic, political and legal issues relating to cybersecurity, including, for example, the European Commission and NATO.

His work focuses on the development of innovative approaches to combating cybercrime as well as digitalization and its effects – particularly in relation to machine learning and artificial intelligence.
